​During this course students are introduced to the concept of the Bodhisattva.  A Bodhisattva is a fully awakened being that dedicates their life towards helping others realize their potential.  Bodhisattvas operate through the greatest motivation to end all suffering through loving compassion (karunamaya).  Bodhisattvas have a rich art historical tradition.  Through lecture, powerpoint, artbooks and master artists, students will learn a variety of Bodhisattva names, identifications and stories. 

Students complete one painting of the Bodhisattva of Compassion (Avalokitesvara).
